How to use the Bookmarks Bar properly

I recently started to use the Bookmarks bar in a totally different way. With the coming of tools like Del.icio.us to keep all your occasional bookmarks and Google Hompage for all the re-occuring bookmarks, I found a new use for the Bookmarks Bar.

Bar

First of all most things in the bar are BookMarklets: little snipplets of javascript that do some cool things like posting to Del.icio.us and sending YouTube videos to the TubeSock ripper. Then I made a couple of folders which keep stuff that I dont want to safe but just need to read (for research) or stuff I currently keep returning to (like my blog). By the way, note that the comics folder has the “Auto-Click” function enabled which makes all the comics open in tabs when pressed.

One tip I got from peeking at Jon Udell’s screencasts is to abbreviate the names of your bookmarks to one word or shorter. That reduces a lot of the clutter and compacts your bookmarks so you can fit more.
