I have been watching quite a few movies lately. Mainly new ones but also a few old classics that I still hadn’t seen. I came to this because Melinda is in The Netherlands for a while and we have basically finished most of the TV shows we use to watch. I didn’t want to write a large review for all of them, so here is my 20-word-movie-review for all of them.

The Bank Job (2008)

A “true” fiction story told as a documentary which doesn’t help the suspense. Set in London though, which is “interesting”.

No Country for Old Men (2007)

Typical Oscar winner, with some great scenes. Somehow it seems to stick but don’t know why. Couple of “quotable” scenes.

Rambo: First Blood (1982)

Made in my birth year, but never seen it before. Sadly enough it’s quite boring. Die Hard was way better!

Cidade de Deus (2002)

#2 movie to see of this century according to IMDB. Don’t really agree but again an Oscar nominee that sticks.

Helvetica (2007)

Fairly boring documentary about a Type Face (Font). What else do I need to say to make this 20 words?

Blades of Glory (2007)

Typical Will Ferrell movie, so you need to like those movies to like this. Jon Heder balanced it out though.

Be Kind Rewind (2008)

It had some great scenes, but I’ve never seen so many people look around after the movie going: was that it?

• The Openid avatar system | Openvatar - Interesting avatar concept that uses OpenID to verify the ID. Not as good as hAvatar though.
• iSpecies - Interesting search engine that uses various sources like Google Scholar
• Prince of Persia: Warrior Within Video Walkthrough - I decided to do what I should have done a while back: play all 3 Prince of Persia games. Sometimes I get stuck and this video tutorial is VERY handy.
• FrontTV 1.0 - EyeTV 2.0 integration for Front Row 2.0
• Pastie - Textmate online pasting of code - My new favorite place for when I want to share code with others. Beats IM, and IRC.
