We “lost” the previous Geek Dinner website (archive.org still has some of it) because we never managed to get our hands on the files and the database after the server went down. So for a while we had a vanilla Wordpress blog which didn’t really represent the Geek Dinner heritage. So with a little effort and less than 2 hours of work I managed to give the site a new look. I even added OpenID and hAvatar support.

Time for yet another London Geek Dinner, this time with special guest David Terrar, who will talk about “Creativity”. The talk will focus on creativity and how the current education system is broke, designed for a 19th century industrial age, and how web2.0 tools can improve creativity.

We haven’t found a venue yet, as our previous home for the Geek Dinners has been letting us down lately, but we will announce it shortly.

Alper and Eelke made a little video, explaining what Tipit.to does, for a competition that might get them some tickets for The Next Web conference in Amsterdam next week. • OOP Concept explained: Polymorphism (Technology) - NSFW explanation of Polymorphism in programming. I think this is how Reinier would explain it if he was in a pissed off mood.
• ABC 3D - A brilliant ABC-popup book. It's a masterwork.
• Video: "How to Speak" - Interesting lecture on how to speak. I totally agree with he video.
• Places near you - WikiNear is a very cool idea that would really fit into my idea for Over The Air.

• MyPCTV sound and the Hafler Principle - getting good quality surround sound on a budget. - broadstuff - Interesting article on how you can turn 4 speakers and a cheap stereo amp into a nice surround set. Might do this one day. I like living on a budget.
• The trouble with Steve - interesting article on Steve Jobs and the danger he poses to investors.
• Data Portability: Reasonable Goal or Impossible Dream? - Nice article by PC world but I don't like the title because it puts DP in a black/white perspective. I would really like to have people see the DP initiative in a more interesting way and see the potential it has to make things better.
• Sniff browser history for improved user experience - Use css and javascript to sniff what services a visitor uses in order to show them their favorite openid provider login, social bookmarking button, etc.
• How To Solve A Rubik's Cube - I always wanted to know how to solve a rubiks cube and now I do. Next step: get a rubiks cube.
