Asif, just register a feed template like you normally would and add an entry for 'action_links'.

For details see here:

Cristiano. Thanks again for your reply. You said what I needed to hear. I've been trying to get FB to do my dirty work, but I guess I just need to roll up my sleeves and do it myself.. :)

Too bad I spent 10+ hours trying this approach, that's what you get for being lazy.. ;)

@viktor: Don't try to get the feed items from the API, just store them in your DB. I mean: you are creating the feed items yourself, right? So why not just store them in your DB, and when a user comes to your site, parse their fb_sig_friends, do a DB lookup, and create a list yourself.

Alternatively you could use fb:ref to make this cacheable and efficient.

Thanks for your reply.

I am calling Feed.publishUserAction. My problem is, since this tag seems to be broken, how can I get the feed items in another way? I am trying to do something similar to the main page of VisualBookshelf, if you know that one?

Cheers.

Hi Viktor. I had never hear of the fb:feed tag, but it looks cool! Worth playing with. Keep in mind that the tag is in Beta so it might just be broken.

It seems the feed stories it shows are the one-liners that you can publish without prompting the user for permission. Just use the API call: <a href="http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Feed.publishUserAction" rel="nofollow">Feed.publishUserAction</a>

Hi Andrew, you're getting what kind of errors?

I'd advice you (and anyone else) to ask your questions on the Facebook Developers Forum (http://forum.developers.facebook.com/) because they respond way faster to questions and answers than I do.

Cristiano. You are my last hope.

I am trying to use the fb:feed tag to publish recent activity in my app. What I want is a way to see on the main page of my application what my friends have done in the application.

The fb:feed tag shows me an empty list, no matter how much I try to publish feed items. They do show (randomly) on the main wall, but never in the application.

I am using Rails (rfacebook), but since fb:feed is FBML that should be of no consequence.

Thank you in advance!

Yes, the target URL in the first example should return a JSON response. I wouldn't use example 1 though, use the 2nd one, it's way easier

Haha, yeah, do remember to always add some data in your page. I like to use templates and have one fixed layout with a header/footer that always gets loaded

If there is an error in your Javascript, Facebook will definitely render the HTML and then generate a JS error which is on its turn debuggable with something like Firebug.

I therefore think you have a problem in your HTML/FBML. Maybe log the output from your server and inspect what it's doing.

This bookmarklet might be your friend in this case:

Hello Cristiano, thanks for the quick reply.

I don't exactly know where is the error because the only thing facebook is telling me is that there was an error while loading the app. But I am sure its at the javacript part because there is not much more on that page.

Do you think a bad template_data could be generating the error?

Thanks again!

Hi Yak,

I have been using this exact code for weeks now so it works fine. Where are you getting that error anyway, in Javascript or in PHP?

Hello, Thanks for the article!

I can't get the automatically popup to work for me. I keep getting the "Error while loading page from XXX".

What I am doing is putting the code inside a tag on the result page after form redirection.

What do you think could be wrong with this?

Thanks a lot!

I thought that this was a fairly complete example already. If you want to know more on app development, go and have a look at the Facebook Developers Wiki, or ask me a more specific question. If you want to learn about integrating your site with Facebook, have a look at the article on Facebook Connect on the Developers Wiki.

You're welcome, that's exactly why I wrote this. It was also useful for my colleagues.

Thanks for this write-up, Cristiano -- I'm implementing some feed stories at the moment, and this really helped cut through some of the opacity of the official wiki documentation!
