So, besides organizing a Geek Dinner I thought it would be nice to organize another Werewolf Night. Same venue and time as the Geek Dinner, just 2 days earlier (the 5th of February). If you haven’t ever played Werewolf, take a look at the (incomplete) wiki, and then join us on the night. The more players the merrier.
Let me know if you are coming, either here in the comments, or on the upcoming page.
I have been trying to get one going for a few weeks now, after Ian pushed me to try it and take some weight of his shoulders. With the help of Ian and Glyn we managed to get Prof. Richard Clayton from the University of Cambridge to talk about:
“Evil ways to make money on the Internet”
I am still trying to confirm the availability of the venue but somehow there is never anyone present to confirm the reservation for me. For now thoug, put the date (February 7th) in your favorite calendar application. The Geek Dinner will probably start at 7pm and go on until we get kicked out. Food is £5 as usual and make sure to either let me know you are coming here in the comments, or on the upcoming page.
Melinda, Colin, and I decided to celebrate the new year by standing in a pushy crowd for more than 4 hours in order to watch the fireworks at the London Eye. I only brought 2 beers which made this a very “successful” plan. We did take some nice photos though.
Last weekend I went to the first PlugLondon at the Skype headquarters here in London. It was a lot of fun, although I didn’t really participate as I had a really bad headache that day. The idea of PlugLondon is much like a MiniBar (which is boring and nothing like a BarCamp) but more oriented on developers and geeks sharing their APIs, projects, and other brilliant ideas. I liked this much better than a MiniBar as even though Skype and eBay had a talk about their API it was still not a sales pitch. Even Ian Forrester (BBC Backstage) gave a little talk on how to use your WiiMote on Linux, and what else kept him busy.
The food (pizza and coke) was great and the presentations were of high quality, making it a nice event for a Saturday. I think next time I would like to see this happen on a Friday or such, as in the weekend all London public transport seems to be rubbish. Not to mention the amount of slow moving tourists in the subway! Below are the photos and go here for the winning logo design.
Barely recovered from the Girl Geek Dinner Christmas Party it was again time for some drinks. This time with Hugh MacLeod, Robert Scoble and Dave Winer. We had quite a few drinks and the food wasn’t that bad either. Bit too much fish food though, but overall a good evening. We were planning to join the photo-walk afterwords, but we hung out at the ICA until 1am before heading home.
