I had a few offers for my Macbook, but never enough money to pay the price difference between what I would get for my old Macbook and what I would have to pay for a new one. With a recent project I finally managed to get that difference covered so I sold my 1st generation Macbook (including the stickers), and bought a basic model 4th generation. I switched my custom bought 160GB Western Digital before I handed my old Macbook to my friend Amir.


Ik had al een paar aanbiedingen gekregen voor mn Macbook laptop, maar ik had nooit het geld om het prijsverschil tussen de verkoop van de oude en de aankoop van de nieuwe Macbook te kunnen overlappen. Door een recent projectje kon dit eindelijk wel, dus ik heb mn oude 1ste generatie Macbook verkocht (inclusief de stickers) en een nieuwe 4de generatie basis-model Macbook aangeschaft. Ik heb nog even snel mn 160GB harddisk uit mn oude Macbook gehaald en gewisselt met de harddisk uit de nieuwe Macbook, en toen heb ik mijn oude Macbook overgegeven aan mn vriend Amir.

My old Macbook was a 1.83Ghz CoreDuo with 2GB of Ram, a 160GB harddrive and a ComboDrive. I bought a new Macbook for £699(€980) and spend €80(£57) on upgrading the memory to 4GB. Al of this gave me the following upgrades:

- Wireless N (not that I have a router that supports that, but maybe in the future)
- 4GB of ram (+2 on the old 2GB)
- 1 year of full warranty (seriously worth a lot of money)
- 144MB Graphics card (vs 64MB)

Don’t have my 4GB or ram yet which makes it very slow at the moment using the standard 1GB. Macbooks really need at least 2GB of Ram. The 4GB will arrive at my parents’ place Wednesday, but I won’t be there before Thursday.

So, I was trying to get my PS2 EyeToy to work on my G4 Mac Mini for a while now. I had done this a while back on a Windows machine and I loved it, so I was hoping it would be a breeze to get to work in Mac OS X. It took a while though to get it working, not because it was difficult to do or something, but simply because there was only one place on the whole internet that gave me an interesting link! So now I will try to make a more Google accessible blog post that can serve as a point to go to for everyone in the future.

I was looking around for a cheap TFT screen for a while now, mainly to connect to my Mac Mini in case my Macbook was back to the shop. The last few times my or Melinda’s Macbook was gone for repairs we were acting as if there wasn’t any other computer to work on, while our Mac Mini was just sitting there.

Ik was al een tijdje op zoek naar een goedkope TFT voor aan onze Mac Mini. Vooral voor wanneer onze Macbook’s weer eens voor reparatie weg zijn. Voorheen hadden we vaak het probleem dat we deden alsof er geen andere pc was om op te werken, terwijl die Mac Mini daar maar niks stond te doen.

De TFT moest natuurlijk wel goedkoop zijn, dus ik was eigenlijk op zoek naar een 15″ oude TFT, dus stel je voor hoe blij ik was toen ik deze 17″ TFT vond via Gumtree (de Engelse Marktplaats) voor slechts 55 euro! Ik ben m meteen gaan ophalen aan de andere kant van London, maar ik was zowel het address als mn telefoon vergeten dus ik kon het de dag erna nog een keer proberen. Al met al hebben we nu een mooie TFT, was het geen oplichting, en de monitor is zelfs slechts 4 maanden oud!

Volgende taak: speakers zoeken en de webcam aan de gang krijgen. Iemand een idee hoe je een EyeToy aan de gang kan krijgen op een Mac Mini?

As it had to be cheap, i was actually just looking for a 15″ little old TFT, so imagine my surprise when I found this beautiful monitor on Gumtree for just £40/€55/£80! I had to pick it up though in south London and the first time I went to pick it up I forgot both my phone and the address. The second day I was able to pick it up, and guess what: it works, wasn’t a scam, and the screen is only 4 months old!

Next up: speakers and a webcam. Does anyone know how to get a Sony EyeToy to work on a Mac Mini?

As some of you might know, a popular game to play during BarCamps is the game of Werewolf. Werewolf is a very social mind game (based on the Mafia game), where a group of villagers go to bed at night to find that the werewolves ate one of them when they wake up. So, as a revenge, the villagers decide to lynch one of their fellows who they suspect to be a werewolf. This goes on until either all the werewolves get lynched, or all villagers get eaten during the night. Obviously there is basically no way the villagers can know who the werewolves are which makes it a very fun and mind-fucking game to play.

So I wanted to get some special cards for a long time now that assign all the players their character, and I was actually planning to use Moo-cards for this, just as some other people had done. I didn’t want to order 100 cards though so I was in a pickle. Imagine my surprise when I found actual real Werewolf cards in an ordinary game shop in The Netherlands! 24 nice cards for only €9 (£6.5)!

There are some weird characters in the game which we will probably never use, but if you go to the Flickr photo and take a look at the notes you will see what every character is supposed to be.

I found a USB stick in the St Uberholz cafe after the Web2Expo in Berlin. The owner said he found more of them, so I took a quick (and safe) look on my mac to see what the content was. Strangely there were 2 movies on it, PASS_AUF_MICH_AUF.m4v and PASS_AUF_MICH_AUF.wmv, both with the same content. The content seems to be some kind of viral video, but I don’t get what they try to promote. The video is shown below:

Vreemd genoeg stonden er 2 films op: PASS_AUF_MICH_AUF.m4v en PASS_AUF_MICH_AUF.wmv.
